We're back on Guåhan: A Recap of our NMI trip
Buenas, Tirow, yan Hafa Adai everyone!
Tåhdong Marianas has officially wrapped up their Northern Marianas trip. We want to express our deepest gratitude and thanks for participating in and assisting us with this project.
For some of us, it was our first time in our adult life to visit the Northern Mariana islands and it felt like coming home to a place we have always longed to see, feel and hold space. In one way or another, you greatly helped us achieve what we set out to do, which is to gather the stories of our people across the Marianas.
All of you were crucial from the very beginning. When we were looking for people to interview, many of you connected us with community members. Some of you were gracious enough to lend your vehicles to us which significantly alleviated our modest budget. Others took time to help us record interviews and showed us around the island. Some of you took us into your home and hosted us with open arms.
You shared with us your stories of place, family, music, community, and the real struggles and hardships you have had to endure. We do not take this responsibility of presenting your stories lightly and we will do our very best to make this project a resource for all our communities -- which we hope will bring us together and keep us connected.
But, we are not done yet!
We will continue to update you on our progress. We have more activities on the way that will move our project forward.
Esta! From the team
